Luke Bryan Shares Thoughts on Katy Perry’s Departure from “American Idol”
In a recent interview on the radio show “Taste of Country Nights,” Luke Bryan, a judge on “American Idol,” talked to/looked at Katy Perry’s announcement of her departure from the show. Bryan, who has been a judge next to Perry and Lionel Richie since 2016, talked about/said that Perry’s decision didn’t come as a complete surprise to him.
“I had heard some talk about it ahead of time, so it wasn’t a huge shock,” Bryan said. “I think maybe she just got caught up in the moment on Kimmel and made the announcement.”
During his appearance on “Taste of Country Nights,” Bryan spoke nicely/with good feelings of his time working with Perry on “American Idol.” “It’s been a great experience with Katy,” he said. “We’ve developed a strong friendship, and it’s been amazing to watch her trip, especially as she became a mother to Daisy Dove.”
Perry officially showed her departure from “American Idol” during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in February. She expressed her love for the show but stated her want to explore new trips/businesses and follow her own path.
As for who will replace Perry on the show, Bryan stated that he hasn’t given it much thought yet. “We (work or talk with others to reach agreement/get through successfully) our contracts every year, so it’s a year-by-year decision,” he explained. “We’ll see how things go as we approach the end of the season.”
Perry’s time on “American Idol” hasn’t been without (argument-causing event/arguments between people), with some viewers criticizing her for accused (of a crime) “mom-(making someone feel guilty and embarrassed)” and perceived snobbiness. However, Bryan defended Perry, noting that facing criticism is part of being in the spotlight.
“Katy Perry has dealt with criticism throughout her career,” Bryan said. “As judges, we’re bound to face close attention too, especially when it comes to giving opinions about talented young artists.”
While Perry’s departure marks the end of a time in history for “American Idol,” Bryan remains focused on the current season and his (happening now) role as a judge on the popular singing competition.
